Ruby Wax claims BBC axed her chat show at 50 because ageing ‘wasn’t allowed’

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Ruby Wax has claimed that her BBC interview show, Ruby Wax With…, was axed because she turned 50 and that ‘wasn’t allowed’.

The comedian and TV star, 70, accused the corporation of ageism in a new interview when it came to cancelling her high-profile talk show in 2003, alleging that they didn’t want older women hosting chat shows.

Famous faces she spoke to on the short-lived show included Jim Carey, Susan Sarandon and John McEnroe.

Her show, which followed on the heels of other series she helmed like The Full Wax, Ruby Wax Meets… and The Ruby Wax Show, was replaced by Louis Theroux’s docuseries in the slot.
