Firefighters are dealing with a massive blaze at a restaurant in West Sussex – with dramatic pictures showing thick black smoke rising into the air. West Sussex Fire & Rescue tweeted: “We are dealing with a large fire at Coastguard Road, Littlehampton. “Ten fire engines and an aerial ladder platform are currently at the scene. “We would ask that all residents avoid the area and keep doors/windows shut as there is a large smoke plume.” Flames rise high above the Harvester restaurant in Littlehampton (Image: Eddie Mitchell) A subsequent statement issued by WSFR said: A spokesperson for West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said: “At 8.51am we were called to a fire at a restaurant in Coastguard Road, Littlehampton. “Upon arrival firefighters were met with a fire in the kitchen, which has since spread to the roof.” It added: “We currently have ten fire engines and an aerial ladder platform at the scene, working hard to bring the fire under control. “Due to the large smoke plume, we would ask all residents to avoid the area, including the seafront, and to keep their doors and windows closed. “All roads surrounding Coastguard Road have been closed. “There are no injuries and everyone has been accounted for.” Another shot of the restaurant in flames (Image: Eddie Mitchell) We’ll be bringing you the very latest updates, pictures and video on this breaking news story.
