Met Office verdict on exactly where and when Brits can expect 29C end-of-summer blast

The Met Office has devised new weather maps, which indicate temperatures across the UK for Friday and into the weekend, after it forecast much-anticipated sunshine

New weather maps highlight the parts of the country expected to experience a much-anticipated summer blast, with temperatures thought to hit 29C.

The graphics, available on Met Office’s website, show it’ll be toasty for most of the UK this afternoo,n but largely remain warm on the weekend. Temperatures are threatening to peak at 29C by approximately 3pm in and around Manchester.

And the north of England will be warmer than southern regions, on the whole, today. London, though, could still see balmy 26C warmth late this afternoon. High pressure is moving in from the west, and has already seen the mercury reach 25.9C in Yeovilton, Somerset, on Wednesday.

The Met Office stresses the weather maps, which are interactive, are continually updated as it researches pressure fronts and changes in the atmospheric system.
