They are also the owners of a second pub just five miles from their gated home between Hinckley and Lutterworth in Leicestershire. Mr Taylor bought the Sarah Mansfield Country Inn located in the rural village of Willey, Warwickshire, in 2020. The pub was once described as the "thriving heart of the community", being the only place for residents to socialise. But Mr Taylor allegedly stripped out the pub's interior after purchasing the site from a brewery, The Times reports. Villagers had fought to preserve the pub and efforts to have it established as "an asset of community value" were initially approved. However, the decision was overturned on appeal. Local residents say tradespeople with diggers and skips were at the pub the following day ripping out the interior. One told The Times it was a hub for villagers to meet every Friday, but now it is "just four walls and looks like it is waiting to fall down". Plans to build houses on part of the pub's car park were thrown out by Rugby Borough Council in August last year. It had also been hoped six upstairs bedrooms would be let out, but councillors unanimously rejected the application.
