Stranger Things star recalls ‘tough day’ on set when everyone ‘got mad’ at them

Stranger Things star David Harbour has revealed he held up filming for nearly a day because he couldn’t get three words out without laughing. The season three scene involved his character Hopper confronting Eleven ( Millie Bobby Brown ) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) about their new romance. He was supposed to imply that Mike’s grandmother was ill in order to get him to leave the house but the line, “It’s your grandma,” proved far more challenging to say than it should have. ‘Oh my God, that was such a tough day. You don’t even know,’ he laughed in an interview with BBC Radio One to promote his new movie Gran Turismo. Blooper clips from the Netflix sensation show him helplessly laughing every time he gets to the line causing his co-stars to burst into fits of giggles also. David Harbour admits he struggled to get through a scene with Millie Bobby Brown and Finn Wolfhead (Image: Netflix) ‘There’s like three hours of that,’ he reveals. “I shut down the day. Like, they couldn’t believe it. ‘And it went through that phase where it was so funny to everyone for like half an hour, I couldn’t stop. ‘And then they got so mad at me because we were gonna go through lunch, you had to take a penalty. ‘And then it got really funny again. It was like the arc of a movie, it was terrific,’ he laughed. While David laughs now just last year he revealed that he didn’t think the show would last . David Harbour has been in Stranger Things since the very first episode (Image: Netflix) Chatting on BBC ‘s The One Show , he said: ‘We were shooting episode four and she was like ‘I don’t think this is going to work’ and I was like, ‘What really?’ ‘So by the time we finished and wrapped I thought we wouldn’t get a second season. ‘We’d be the first-ever Netflix show to never get a second season, we thought no one would watch it and it would be a big disaster.’ David’s character has been with the show since the very first episode and will appear in the upcoming fifth and final season.
