Helen Skelton issues apology to Rob Burrow as she misses rugby star’s landmark launch

Helen Skelton presents BBC’s Morning live in stripy green outfit Helen Skelton wished Rob Burrow all the best with his newest venture amid his battle with motor neurone disease. The former rugby player, who was diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2019, has brewed Burrows Blonde ‘a light and zesty beer’ to support those living in the MND community. However, the Countryfile presenter insisted that despite skipping out on the event, she would be sampling the beer at home. Helen shared a post from Rob’s Instagram detailing the launch and typed: ‘Sorry I couldn’t make it. Wishing you all the best with Burrows Blonde. Look forward to tasting mine.’ The presenter’s ex-husband Richie Myler played alongside Rob for the Leeds Rhinos, until he retired in 2017. Burrow’s Blonde is a light & zesty beer focused on supporting the MND community. ‘We’ve partnered with @thegoodracingco who aim to redefine horseracing as an all-inclusive sport that motivates and excites people, especially when racing for good causes. ‘They began fundraising for Rob with a charity racehorse in his name, Burrow Seven. This has transformed into the Rob Burrow Racing Club and has raised nearly £180,000 for charity so far. ‘To amplify this good work, and to support Rob and his family directly, we’ve branded up our newest beer as Burrow’s Blonde: where 10p from every pint or bottle goes to the Rob Burrow 7 Discretionary Trust and the Rob Burrow Racing Club. ‘We are proud to be hosting Rob and his family, along with Leeds Rhinos stars and The Good Racing Co at the brewery today to celebrate the launch. ‘To learn more about this campaign in support of a true Yorkshire hero, please take a look at the information through the link in our bio. ‘Burrow’s Blonde is now available on cask for pubs and bars and in 500ml bottle on our web store, where 10p from every pint or bottle goes to Rob’s family and the MND community,’ it finished. Last month, the Leeds Rhinos Hall of Fame star, also announced he had written two new books in partnership with Macmillan Children’s Books.
