Riley Keough shared her daughter’s name, picked especially to honor her grandfather Elvis Presley ‘s memory. The Daisy Jones and the Six star welcomed her daughter with husband Ben Smith-Petersen into the world, via surrogate, in August 2022. However, it wasn’t known that the two had become parents until the news of her birth came out in an emotional eulogy to Keough’s mom Lisa Marie Presley in January. It has been revealed that Keough and Smith-Petersen decided to name their daughter Tupelo Storm Smith-Petersen. While the meaning of the name may not be instantly clear to some, true Elvis fans would see the connection. Riley Keough shares daughter’s name that’s a tribute to Elvis Presley. It wasn’t long before where Elvis was born was highlighted worldwide in the Baz Luhrmann’s Oscar nominated biopic Elvis starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks. She added: ‘It’s funny because we picked her name before the Elvis movie. ‘I was like, ‘Oh, no’. But it’s fine.’ Riley Keough and her mom Lisa Marie Presley. Tupelo’s middle name is a tribute to her late brother Benjamin Storm Keough who died by suicide aged 27 in 2020. It came out that Keough had become a mother during Lisa Marie’s memorial service during a poem that was read out by her husband. He said on her behalf: ‘I hope I can love my daughter that way you loved me. ‘The way you love my brother and my sisters. Thank you for giving me strength, my heart, my empathy, my courage, my sense of humor.’ Riley Keough’s grandparents Elvis and Priscilla Presley. (Image: GETTY) ‘We are you. You are us, my eternal love. I hope you finally know how loved you were here. ‘Thank you for trying so hard for us. If I didn’t tell you every day, thank you.’ Last month, Keough became the official sole trustee of her late mother’s estate after Lisa Marie died aged 54. There was some drama as just a few days after the funeral, her grandmother Priscilla filed court documents disputing a 2016 amendment to Lisa Marie’s trust which removed herself and a former business manager as trustees. Thankfully, Priscilla and Keough were able to agree upon a settlement in May.
