Summer holiday chores are unevenly spread, at least in France. Women spend more time booking trips, packing children’s suitcases, preparing meals, organising activities and cleaning, according to a survey, and now they have another responsibility.
A new study reveals that women also spend more time writing postcards. Seventy-five per cent of those sent by the French were written by women, research for Fizzer, the postcard business, found.
“It is yet another task that falls to women, who do not lack them anyway, even on holiday,” said Le Parisien. The newspaper said French men tended to offload postcard duties on to their wives and partners, even when they were addressed to their own parents. It added to women’s mental load, the paper said.
