Man staggered after securing major Hollywood deal from posting stories on Reddit

Author Jimmy Juliano has released his book DEAD ELEVEN and secured a major Hollywood deal after spending almost a decade sharing his short stories on the subreddit NoSleep

When creating a Reddit account in 2013, one aspiring writer never expected his short stories to secure him a major Hollywood deal. But lucky for author Jimmy Juliano, an entertainment manager, from Los Angeles, America, spotted his gripping tales on the subreddit NoSleep and was so impressed by them, he reached out about representation.

Jimmy, from a suburb outside of Chicago, Illinois, started sharing his spooky stories on NoSleep about 10 years ago, wanting to get as many eyes on his work as possible. Speaking to The Mirror US, he said: “I loved the vibe. I was really drawn to the ‘blurring of reality’ aspect and how plausible everything was – being a fan of spooky stories and urban legends, I wanted to join the party.”

Known as u/Red_Grin online, Jimmy’s stories not only impressed the entertainment manager but also its 17 million users, who upvoted 10 of his short stories into the number one spot on the subreddit. He says the entertainment manager, named Josh, contacted him a few years after he began sharing his work on Reddit, saying he was a “big fan” and thought his stories had “film/TV adaptation potential.”
