 A newly revealed pokémon for the Scarlet & Violet DLC has fans arguing about bridges and potential remakes of Pokémon Black & White. Unfortunately, yesterday's Pokémon Presents showcase didn't yield anything too exciting, although the new footage of the upcoming DLC expansions for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet at least looked interesting. Aside from new paradox forms for Raikou and Cobalion, it also debuted two new evolutions for the pokémon Applin and Duraludon (introduced in Pokémon Sword and Shield) called Dipplin and Archaludon. It's the latter, however, that has put some fans in a tizzy because they think it's secretly a teaser for remakes of Pokémon Black & White… because Archaludon looks like a bridge. For context, Pokémon Black & White are set in the New York inspired region of Unova and among its landmarks are five bridges that connect its three landmasses. Others have argued that this theory is a stretch, but one of the new characters in the Scarlet & Violet DLC is also believed to be related to a character from Pokémon Black & White. Drayton, who is seen using the aforementioned Archaludon – which is a dragon type – in the new footage, has a very similar name to Drayden, the dragon type gym leader from the Black & White games. Bulbapedia notes that this is also the case in other languages, as both their names are derived from a type of flower called the *iris laevigata*, aka the Japanese iris. As tenuous as some of that sounds, many fans believe it and it's certainly true that remakes of Black and White are a safe bet for the next Pokémon games. The Pokémon Company has fallen into a pattern of releasing remakes of previous games in between the new ones.
