During Evo 2023, Capcom stunned Street Fighter 6 fans by announcing an in-game crossover with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The heroes in a half shell aren't their own playable characters, like in Injustice 2, but appear as costumes you can put on your customisable avatar. Whether or not this is foreshadowing that Street Fighter 6 will go full Fortnite and add more pop culture crossovers is unclear, but at first the announcement was greeted favourably by fans. However, that excitement has sizzled somewhat after it was discovered how much you're expected to pay if you want the skins for all four turtles: £44, which is only £10 less than the game itself. For those who don't know, Street Fighter 6 does contain microtransactions. While its Fighter Coins currency can be earned through play, Capcom also lets you purchase Fighter Coins with real money. Since each of the skins costs 750 coins, that means anyone who wants a full set must scrounge together 3,000 coins. The most you can buy at once is 2,750, which costs £39.99, so unless you're willing to grind for the rest or already have some, you need to buy the 210 coins bundle (the cheapest of the bunch) for an additional £3.99. This isn't taking into consideration all the other Ninja Turtles themed cosmetics as well. There's also a sticker set, poses, wallpapers, photo frames, and the turtles' bandanas. Their prices vary but if you wanted the entire Ninja Turtles collection, that's £80 worth of microtransactions you're dropping, which is way more than what Street Fighter 6 costs, at £54.99. Some fans are understandably displeased by this, taking to social media to voice their disappointment.
