NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
A beloved mother-of-four was found dead of heat exhaustion after going for a hike in a US city considered so hot it has become ‘uninhabitable without aircon’.
Jessica Christine Lindstrom, 34, went hiking near Phoenix, Arizona on Friday (August 4) morning, and was declared missing by emergency services when she failed to return nine hours later.
A major rescue operation involving drones, rescue teams and volunteers was launched, before her body was discovered on a remote trail after five hours of searching.
‘Unfortunately, Ms Lindstrom was in town from Oregon, where it doesn’t get this hot,’ said Fire Department Captain Scott Douglas, who said early signs suggested she had become overwhelmed by the heat.
