Easyjet flight makes emergency landing with police surrounding plane at UK airport

The easyJet flight from Mallorca emitted 7700 for an emergency over North Wales on Tuesday afternoon before landing at Liverpool John Lennon Airport where it was greeted by fire engines

An easyJet plane was surrounded by police and fire engines as it made an emergency landing at a UK airport.

The flight from Palma de Mallorca landed at its intended destination of Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport where it was greeted by emergency services. The airline has confirmed this was down to a “technical issue”.

The flight began squawking 7700 for an emergency as it flew over North Wales just after midday on Tuesday, August 8, Liverpool ECHO reports. It was met by Merseyside Police and fire fighters on the tarmac in case of an emergency.

A spokesperson for the airline said this afternoon: “EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY3360 from Palma to Liverpool on 8 August was met by emergency services on arrival at Liverpool as a precaution only, due to a technical issue. The captain performed a routine landing in line with procedures and passengers disembarked normally.
