 The makers of Hitman are starting to open up about their James Bond game, but there's already confusion as to who plays the title role. It's getting on for three years since Hitman developer Io Interactive announced they were working on a new James Bond game, and they've not shown or said anything about it since. Games do take a long time to make nowadays, so it still probably won't be out for a couple of years, but there is a chance we start to see and hear more about it soon. According to senior technical executive producer Cris Vega, the game is 'going to tell the story of the first Bond and how it becomes the secret agent that he is.' But what exactly does that mean? The only time the phrase first Bond is usually used, is in describing the various actors that have played the character, with the late Sean Connery obviously being the first. Although they could possibly be planning to use the likeness of his younger self that seems an awful lot of effort and it's not clear that his estate would allow it. Plus, who are they going to get to voice the character? Even when Sean Connery did do the voiceover for a Bond game – 2005's From Russia with Love – he'd long since stopped bothering to do accents. The other obvious explanation (other than Vega seems to be Spanish and something may have got lost in translation) is that this is a reference to the nonsensical fan theory that James Bond is only a codename and they're all actually different people. We say nonsensical because there was clear continuity between the first three Bonds, and arguably all the way up to Daniel Craig – where Skyfall makes it plain that his name really is James Bond (plus, where else did he get an old school Austin Martin DB5 with ejector seat?).
