The former Premier League mainstay has given his opinion on a player he previously coached but has seemingly been left confused by some of his recent career choices
Former Premier League stalwart Brad Friedel has questioned the wisdom behind Matt Turner’s potential move from Arsenal to Nottingham Forest.
The ex-Liverpool and Tottenham stopper is in a position to give a unique perspective regarding the trajectory of USMNT number one’s career, having managed him at the New England Revolution. The retired goalkeeper gave the Gunners back-up his debut in MLS back in 2018 and has clearly kept a close eye on his progress in the time since.

Unable to dislodge first-choice goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from his starting berth, the American did not make a single Premier League appearance last term.
After only playing seven games in all competitions during the previous campaign, Turner’s former coach Friedel has now expressed his surprise at the 29-year-old’s decision to leave MLS in the first place. Speaking on The Transfer Show on Sky Sports, he asserted: “I don’t know, he is a great kid but I never understood his move to Arsenal.
