A proposal for a new “green neighbourhood” in Edinburgh’s city centre complete with a wetland area and heat pumps is being considered by planners.
The application submitted to the city of Edinburgh council includes plans for 256 sustainable homes, 25 per cent of which will be affordable housing.
The new eco-friendly neighbourhood project was proposed by developers Artisan Real Estate and REInvest Asset Management.
Each property in the new development will feature a heat pump to avoid fossil fuel use and lower energy costs for residents. Gas boilers have been outlawed in new homes from 2024 under guidance set out by Scottish ministers.
More than two thirds of the new development will be made up of green space featuring biodiverse green roofs, a wetland area
