Seilebost has been described as one of the “best” beaches in the world (Image: Getty) As the weather starts to cheer up, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a day at one of Britain’s beautiful beaches. A new study by the expert tema at AA has named the UK’s best beaches to drive to this summer. The team looked at nearby seaside towns, visitor rankings, car parks and the cost of petrol to determine the results. While a gorgeous seaside town in Wales took the top spot , a beautiful beach in Scotland was just behind. Seilebost Beach on Scotland’s Isle of Harris was the UK’s second best beach while it took the crown in Scotland. The beach has aquamarine water with views (Image: Getty) Seilebost Beach sits on the southern side of Luskentyre Bay and despite its Scottish location, looks like it could be a tropical paradise. The beach has aquamarine water with views across the sea to Taransay and Ben Luskentyre. Tourists should be aware there is quicksand in the area so shouldn’t walk on wet sand at low tide. The beach is white and sandy (Image: Getty) A tourist ‘Brian C’ wrote on Tripadvisor: ‘Fantastic white sandy beach, easy access and the water is a beautiful tropical blue. It look amazing.’ ‘Sygal A’ said: ‘A must see beach if visiting the Isle. Gorgeous turquoise water, huge sandy stretches when the tide is out. Hard to describe just how beautiful this beach is.’ ‘Littlebuzz2018’ wrote: ‘Best beach in the world. Stunning beach with a deep inlet of water suitable for swimming at low tide.’ Another tourist described the gorgeous beach as ‘breathtakingly beautiful’ and said it ‘took their breath away.’ Dogs are allowed on Seilebost beach and there’s a car park for tourists who make the trip to the beauty spot. While Seilebost is a more remote beach, tourists could head to one of the UK’s first ever seaside towns if they want to shop .
