Roy Keane buries the hatchet with Man Utd after 18 years to launch new third kit

Roy Keane has featured in the launch video for Man United’s new third kit, with the former club captain part of the release for the latest shirt which went on sale on Tuesday

Manchester United have launched their third shirt for the new season, with former club captain Roy Keane part of the release despite almost 18 years without a formal appearance in any club media.

The release comes after United confirmed the continuation of their deal with German kit manufacturer Adidas, with the club releasing a smart addition to their kits for the upcoming season. It is a white shirt, with a dark red trim, with simplified versions of both the Adidas logo and the club’s iconic Red Devil emblem.

It is the club’s final kit launch of the summer, coming just days before the start of the new Premier League season. The kit is inspired by the shirts worn during United’s first ever FA Cup winning campaign, with the shirt reminiscent of the colours worn during the 1908/09 season.

Keane left Old Trafford in 2005 amid an acrimonious falling out with manager Sir Alex Ferguson , with the legendary club captain cutting ties as a result. The new launch now marks a building of bridges between the club and its former midfield enforcer, with Keane featuring in a launch video released to social media on Tuesday morning.
