But rather than collect his dog, the owner decided to leave him in their care, hoping somebody else would be able to give him the life he deserves. Unfortunately, the American pit bull struggled to win anybody over in kennels - and ended up waiting 500 days until finally catching somebody's eye. However, his adoption didn't work out quite as planned as he was returned to the shelter just one week later after "nipping" his new owner. Sharing his story on TikTok, a worker at Austin Animal Center said: "When you wait 500 days to find a home and then get returned after one week. Shelter dogs need time to adjust to a new home. Drogo didn't even get the chance. Now he's back at the shelter again waiting for his real forever family." The caption added: "We are all crushed that Drogo was returned to the shelter so quickly. He was one of the longest stay dogs at the shelter and now he's back again. He's devastated. It's not fair." Drogo has been described as an "affectionate boy" who "loves to sniff the fresh air and go on lots of walks". One of their volunteers said on Facebook: "Super friendly with people. While he enjoys a good hike and playing, he is also great at just chilling, especially if he's got some sort of long lasting chewing treat. Always seems to be so happy even though he's been at the shelter for what seems like a while. Overall one of my favourite dogs at Austin Animal Center." Another volunteer added: "I know you shouldn't play favourites … but Drogo is my favourite. He thinks he's a lap dog and we haven't had the heart to tell hi){kind=link}
