 Two of the dancers filing a lawsuit against Lizzo have accused her of 'gaslighting' and 'victim blaming' after she appeared to rubbish their allegations of toxicity in the workplace. Lizzo – real name Melissa Viviane Jefferson – hit the headlines last week when it was revealed that the singer and her production company are being sued by three former dancers over allegations of sexual harassment and the creation of a hostile work environment. The complaint, filed in Los Angeles on Tuesday (August 1), was brought against the Truth Hurts singer and Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc (BGBT), also highlighting alleged behaviour from Shirlene Quigley, the captain of Lizzo's dance team. Dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez have claimed that they were subject to sexual, religious, and racial harassment, as well as disability discrimination, assault, and false imprisonment while working for the star. Lizzo, 35, later released a statement of her own, responding to the filing and claiming that the allegations were 'outrageous'. She also said the former employees were 'sensationalising' stories after publicly admitting to 'inappropriate' and 'unprofessional' behaviour on tour. Chatting to Sarah-Jane Mee on Sky News on Monday evening (August 7), the performers were quizzed on their responses. 'Her statement is just confirming the pattern of any time somebody speaks up or advocates for themselves like we're doing now, we get victim blamed, we get gaslighted, and she likes to point the finger instead of addressing the issues that are being brought up,' said Crystal.
