Tottenham are reportedly ‘ready to sell’ right-back Djed Spence after only 12 months at the club. Spence was signed from Middlesborough last summer for £20million on a five-year deal. A decision then-manager Antonio Conte admits was taken out of his hands by club executives. “Spence is an investment of the club,” he said. “The club wanted to do it. I said, ‘OK, this player is young but he showed he can become a good, important player for us’. The club decided to buy him.” However, new manager Ange Postecoglou has deemed the 22-year-old surplus to requirements as he looks to trim down his bloated first-team squad. According to the Evening Standard , Spence has been added to Spurs’ growing transfer list alongside Hugo Lloris, Tanguy Ndombele and Joe Rodon. Spence struggled for game time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last season and was eventually sent out on loan to play for Ligue 1 side Rennes in January. There, he only managed to pick up ten appearances in all competitions. Tottenham have already gotten rid of Harry Winks, Lucas Moura and Tom Bloxham with more set to follow. “I don’t have a fixed number [of players] in my head, but fair to say our squad is too big at the moment,” said Postecoglou. “There are obviously guys who will look for opportunities elsewhere. I will deal with what’s in front of me and I think we’ll see some movement out over the next few weeks. We’ve obviously got a bit of time before the end of the transfer window.” Meanwhile, the Harry Kane transfer saga rages on. Tottenham recently rejected a third bid of £85m from Bayern Munich for their skipper as Daniel Levy holds firm on his £100m asking price. The two parties remain in negotiations as they attempt to close their £25m gap in valuation.
