Liverpool ended their pre-season campaign with a routine but not always comfortable 3-1 win against German side Darmstadt.
Up against the newly-promoted Bundesliga side, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota struck inside the first eight minutes before Darmstadt quickly pulled a goal back. But Luis Diaz made sure that victory was intact midway through the second half by producing a spectacular finish.
While building work at Anfield continues, the Reds used Preston North End’s stadium for their final fixture of the summer and fans from both sides made it an impressive atmosphere for a friendly. It was also serious for plenty of Liverpool players, who had one last chance to put themselves in Klopp’s thinking ahead of their mammoth Premier League opener away to Chelsea on Sunday.
