Andrew told to axe biography plans over ‘problems’ with his ‘version of truth’

Prince Andrew was told hold fire on plans for a tell-all memoir over ‘problems with plausibility’ (Image: GETTY) Prince Andrew has been warned to hold fire on plans to release a tell-all memoir over ‘problems with plausibility’. The disgraced royal was accused of sexually abusing Virginia Giuffre, nee Roberts, who said she was a victim of sex trafficking and abuse by Jeffrey Epstein. In 2021, she filed a civil case against Andrew, which was settled in February, over her claims she sexually assaulted her on three occasions when she was 17. The Duke of York has repeatedly denied the allegations. Andrew and Giuffre reached an out-of-court settlement. But as reports hold Andrew is contemplating a Prince Harry -style memoir to fix his reputation, a royal expert has said it could backfire. He told the outlet: ‘Because, you know, you only have to refer to that interview with Emily Maitlis to realise this is a guy that’s version of the truth is not believed. ‘There’s also a new book coming out by Andrew Lownie, who is writing a book about Andrew and Fergie but he is having problems. ‘He is a pretty good historian but his problems is getting access to information about them. ‘But you know, with respect to Andrew, you can have a good source that’s how it works in royal book writing and journalism, you know, you don’t always get it from the public domain, which historians find difficult. ‘The reality is the forgetting under-story isn’t going away, because people are always going to be delving that little bit further into Andrew’s story.’ Robert Jobson said ‘this is a guy that’s version of the truth is not believed’ (Image: GETTY) Jobson then noted that Andrew recently claimed ‘that he hadn’t seen Epstein’, which he added ‘actually has come out to be untrue’. ‘And it was in a court document that he didn’t he came out, he actually saw him before,’ the royal author added. ‘And afterwards. So the reality is, you know, is his credibility is shot. ‘So if he’s going to write a ‘Spare 2′, I don’t think that it’s gonna stack up in terms of the readership.’ The claims the Duke of York will write his own memoir come from the Sun, where a source said he wants to tackle the publics perception of him. ‘If he’s going to write a ‘Spare 2’, I don’t think that it’s gonna stack up in terms of the readersh (Image: GETTY) Speaking to the outlet in March, a source said: ‘Everyone close to him is telling him it’s a stupid idea and he should just forget it.’ Another added: ‘Andrew was the original spare and there’s plenty of material. ‘Compared to Harry, he has a far greater depth of history to draw from. ‘Writing a book would give him the opportunity to fully explain his association with Jeffrey Epstein and the resulting fall-out. ‘But it would also be a fascinating insight into the inner workings of the royals and their relationships.’ Follow our social media accounts here on facebook.com/ExpressUSNews and @ExpressUSNews
