Charlie Dimmock, 56, is a gardening expert known for being a member of the team on the hit BBC show, Ground Force, which aired from 1997 to 2005. The TV presenter and gardening enthusiast has since presented and featured on a plethora of other shows including The Joy of Gardening, Charlie’s Garden Army and Garden Rescue. Away from the screen, Charlie has had an interesting life which began in the Hampshire village Wellow near the New Forest. The 56-year-old attended Wellow Primary School and the Mountbatten School in Romsey, Hampshire. Her love for gardening began at an early age and when she attended the Mountbatten School she received gardening lessons in the spring and summer terms. She then trained as an amenity horticulturalist at Winchester. Later on in Somerset she attained a distinction in her BTEC Diploma in Amenity Horticulture and a National Technical Certificate in Turf Culture and Sporting Management. She then spent a year training at the prestigious Chelsea Physic Garden in London. Horses in the New Forest (Image: Getty) After finishing college, Charlie worked at Romsey Garden Centre and it was here she met TV producer John Thornicroft who later produced Ground Force. Charlie has stayed close to her roots and still resides in the New Forest with her pet horse, according to MyLondon . The gardener’s home was renovated in 2011 to include a new kitchen and a £9,000 Aga, according to MailOnline . The New Forest is a sought-after area which means properties don’t come cheap. Homes had an overall average price of £402,603 over the last year, according to Rightmove. The majority of sales in New Forest during the last year were detached properties , selling for an average price of £641,899. Flats sold for an average of £212,943, with semi-detached properties fetching £373,137. Overall, sold prices in New Forest over the last year were seven percent up on the previous year and 12 percent up on the 2020 peak of £358,089.
