The Jets have waived a quarterback after their first preseason game with now just three on the roster following Zach Wilson’s impressive showing with Aaron Rodgers not yet taking the field
The New York Jets have waived quarterback Chris Streveler after he struggled in the team’s preseason opener.
Streveler went one for seven throwing the ball and threw an interception, with the Jets making the decision to ruthlessly cut him. Streveler had also been dealing with a thumb injury that he sustained in the game, hitting his hand on a defender’s helmet.
The 28-year-old saw playing time in the regular season last year, when he replaced Zach Wilson after he was benched for a second time in the season – and outperformed the former second overall draft pick when he went 10 for 15 passing and rushed for 54 yards.
But the Jets made the decision to cut him after the loss, leaving the Jets with just Aaron Rodgers, Wilson and Tim Boyle on the roster – with them likely to add another quarterback for preseason.
