 Anita Carey has died at the age of 75. The actress, who is perhaps best known for playing Vivien March in Doctors, died last month following a battle with breast cancer. She had first been diagnosed in 2010. Anita rose to fame in the 1970s, appearing in many British TV series' including The Spoils Of War and The History Of Mr Polly. The Beryl's Lot star would land a role on Coronation in 1978, playing Brenda Summers, a victim of domestic abuse who was befriended by Emily Bishop, appearing in four episodes. She would later land a more significant part in the ITV soap in 1996, playing the role of Joyce Smedley, mum to established cobbles resident Judy Mallett. Joyce was killed off in 1997 in shocking scenes when she was hit by a car while out walking her dog. This time, she portrayed Mill receptionist Vivien March, who became one of the show's most recognisable characters. Vivien was at the centre of a huge rape storyline which received critical acclaim, with Anita picking up the award for Best Female Dramatic Performance at the British Soap Awards in 2009.
