 Emmerdale's Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) is coping with a lot at the moment. The humiliation of being jilted on the morning of her wedding by fiancé Nicky (Lewis Cope) is obviously still raw, and now she's compounded things by getting extremely drunk and trying to kiss Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle). Nicky revealed that he couldn't go through with the wedding because he's gay, telling Gabby that he'd been coerced into romancing her as part of his dad Caleb (William Ash)'s plot against Kim Tate (Claire King). This was all devastating news for Gabby, who was genuinely in love with the former nanny and had pinned her hopes of a future on him. He made the decision to stay in the village, meaning that any time Gabby goes to work or pops out for a pint of milk, she's liable to bump into him. Even worse, Nicky has moved on romantically and has started a relationship with Suni Sharma (Brahmdeo Shannon Ramana). As far as Gabby is concerned, seeing them together is just rubbing her nose in her own misery. This led to her getting very drunk and lashing out at Nicky. and it was only Billy's swift intervention that stopped her from physically attacking her former fiancé. Following that, mistaking Billy's kindness for something more, she tried to kiss him. 'It was a moment of madness that she comes to regret,' Rosie Bentham told Inside Soap magazine. 'She's seeking validation from any man. She's completely lost; I just picture Gabby waking up in the morning and feeling like her life is chaos.' With Billy happily married to Dawn (Olivia Bromley) and looking forward to the birth of their baby, Gabby knows there's no future for her and Billy, but this only adds to the loneliness she feels after losing Nicky and also her closest friend Liv (Isobel Steele), who died in the storm last October.
