McDonald’s fans are only just realising their loyalty points will expire

McDonald’s fans have only just realised that the newly launched loyalty scheme where you can rack up points for every order claims the points can expire if not used within a certain timeframe

If you’re a keen McDonald’s fan you will always be in the know about new menu changes, savings and offers – but did you know that you can rack up loyalty points? Finally, the more burgers we eat the more it can pay off as McDonald’s newly launched a loyalty points scheme for the biggest of the Big Mac fans.

You can rack the points up with every penny you spend, and once you hit 1,500 points you can start to reap the benefits and claim some free goodies, as several items can become free if you have enough points. Fan favourites such as McFlurries, and breakfast meals can be scooped up with points.

If you order and pay on the McDonald’s app the points will get automatically added, and if you pay in-store or at the drive-thru till, you can get a one-time code – available in the “code” section of your app. So when people started to realise their points can expire, one Maccies fan shared on Facebook that she went around the drive-thru two times to make the most of her points before they expired.

She wrote: “Never really took note of the McDonald’s reward points until I had a notification to say they were expiring. Well worth it, [you] can only add five items per order so went around twice. Had to pay for the milkshake, smoothie and one meal, didn’t think a third time through drive-thru was appropriate but all this for less than £13.”
