Channel 4 presenter turned Strictly star gets vote of Brexiteer he swore about on TV

Steve Baker publicly backs Krishnan Guru-Murthy nine months after the news anchor was suspended for insulting the Northern Ireland minister

It seems a curious way of garnering votes for a reality TV show, but nine months after calling a Minister a four-letter word, Krishnan Guru-Murthy has won the same politician’s support on Strictly Come Dancing.

The Channel 4 news anchor has been selected to appear on the BBC’s flagship entertainment series just nine months after being taken off air for a week. He was caught making a deeply offensive comment off-camera about Steve Baker, the Northern Ireland minister.

However, Mr Baker has now said he will happily support his former nemesis’ attempts at the Paso Doble, Salsa, or American Smooth when it comes to the viewers’ vote.

On Saturday, he told The Telegraph: “Godspeed, Krishnan – you’ll get my vote!”
