Princess Kate celebrates six months of the ‘Shaping Us’ campaign Kate, the Princess of Wales and Prince William have been “fighting back” against criticism thrown at them and the rest of the Royal Family over their role in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s departure from the institution. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex took aim at the couple first in their six-part docuseries Harry & Meghan before the Duke leveled further accusations against his brother and sister-in-law in his memoir Spare. But rather than letting the negativity hinder their efforts to lay the groundwork for their new projects as the Prince and Princess of Wales, the royal pair have instead worked on improving and expanding their media presence. Kate and William have adopted a new strategy aimed at helping members of the public connect with them by showing that despite their titles they remain an approachable and down-to-earth couple with children. Woman magazine executive editor Hannah Fernando said: “Go back a few months and the brickbats that were being thrown at them, they could have come off really badly. Kate and William have been fighting back against backlash “But when someone else goes low the Royal Family goes high and they don’t say a word. “This is William and Kate really coming back, fighting back and being absolutely brilliant.” Fernando noted William in particular is working on carving a spot for himself as the new Prince of Wales after his father held the title for over five decades. Speaking to True Royalty’s The Royal Beat, she added: “Prince William is coming up with his own ideas. He wants it to be real and he is putting his money where his mouth is. “He realizes he can’t be normal as such, but he is trying to normalize himself as much as possible, because he has a really big job coming up.’ Kate and William have been working hard to show they are approachable despite their titles PR and brand expert Mark Borkowski praised the couple for improving their PR profile by focusing on a “positive” narrative based on their commitment to their roles and their family. Borkowski said: “William and Kate have created numerous official and informal photo opportunities, projecting a positive and united image as a couple. “This curated and idealized image indicates their determination to own the narrative of hard-working, empathetic young royals.’ The PR expert was particularly impressed by the publicity choices the Princess of Wales made during the Wimbledon tennis tournament. He told Page Six: “The recent appearance of Kate pre-tournament with the ball boys and girls was a great stunt.
