Pep Guardiola makes telling admission over Man City future after Treble triumph

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has scotched suggestions in the media that he could soon be ready to move on from the Etihad after winning the treble last season

Pep Guardiola has not ruled out taking his Manchester City reign to 10 years and beyond.

There were suggestions that the City boss would consider walking away from the final two years of his contract this summer if the Blues completed a Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup Treble last season because his mission would be complete.

But Guardiola insists he is going into the Community Shield clash with Arsenal with the same hunger he had when he first arrived at the Etihad seven years ago. And he also hinted that he will extend his contract past the summer of 2025 if he still feels the same way next year.

Guardiola said: “I signed a contract for another two years because I feel comfortable – and nothing has changed whether we won (the treble) or didn’t win. I am happy and the people are happy, the board and the hierarchy especially, because they decide in the end which manager is going to lead this group of players.
