The boozer previously failed to provide "adequate" loading facilities for deliveries in a 2021 planning application, which could have led to the road being blocked. A report published by the council said one idea to address the delivery issue was to make turn the 30 minute parking restrictions into no waiting at any time. The report said painting yellow lines would mean that length of road would be available for loading and unloading. The City of Ely Council has objected to the proposals and next door's dental practice said they use the space "daily", CambsLive reported. They explained it is vital for elderly patients and kids who need to park up outside to avoid walking long distances. Meanwhile one person fumed: "Please can you explain why the owners require double yellow lines on the highway outside their property as they already have a large amount of parking on tarmac within the boundary of no.24. "Double yellow lines will also remove an amenity for local people and will just become a convenience for one property owner."
