Quake 2 remaster rumoured for QuakeCon reveal next week

It sounds like the Quake 2 remaster is very real, which could support the rumours of id Software and MachineGames making a brand new entry.

Remember when a ratings board leaked the existence of a Quake remaster and then it was officially unveiled not long after, at ZeniMax Media’s yearly QuakeCon event?

Well, it seems history is about to repeat itself. In June, a listing for a Quake 2 remaster was spotted on the South Korean ratings board, strongly suggesting that a formal announcement was imminent.

Now, a very reliable leaker claims that said announcement will take place, unsurprisingly, during QuakeCon 2023 next week, either on August 10 (the date the event starts) or on August 11.

What’s more, just like the previous remaster, it won’t be an Xbox exclusive and will launch for all modern platforms, so: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
