iPhone users need to update these TWO models in weeks or gadget will lose value

Apple is set to launch iOS17, its new software unleashing a raft of new features but it will not support iPhone 8 and iPhone X. Tech experts are urging people to sell or trade-in their phones.

Apple is set to launch a new software unleashing new features but many will be left behind if their phones don’t support the new operating system.

The new iOS17 will not support iPhone 8 and iPhone X, which were released in 2017, meaning it will cut their value by 50 per cent. The new update will include new security features, like improvements to Safari Private Browsing and Apple’s child safety protections as well as aesthetic and usability improvements.

There is plenty more on offer with new design-driven contact cards and a ‘StandBy’ mode that effectively turns the iPhone into a desk or nightstand clock as it charges along with a customizable quick info on display. iOS17 also features keyboard updates and one that improves autocorrect, which is great news for many users who have complained that their words at autocorrected incorrectly. The new system adds a new language model that has a more accessible shortcut to go back to the original word if the system gets it wrong.

Tech experts are urging users to sell or trade in devices before September if they want to take advantage of the new software. Trade-in value for a mint condition iPhone X is currently around $190, while the iPhone 8 is $90 and $152 for the iPhone 8 Plus. The iPhone 7 Plus went from $138 in June 2022 to $80, while the iPhone 6S Plus went from $94 to $47 when iOS 16 launched last year, , reports the Daily Mail.
