As their first public appearance together drew to a close, Sir Tony Blair turned to Sir Keir Starmer and told him the country would be “in good hands” if he won the next general election.
If Starmer is victorious, Blair stands ready to be one of his successor’s most important sources of inspiration.
The pair talk regularly in private but Starmer’s outing with the New Labour pioneer sent out the clearest signal yet to his unified version of the party that Blairism need no longer be seen as taboo.
