 Two families have been left heartbroken after the deaths of a young man and woman in Durham. Brogan Latcham, 25, had gone to bed at his home in Spennymoor where when he was asked to give a lift to some friends, his family say. The Jeep Cherokee he was in later came off the road and collided with a tree around 7am. Brogan and passenger Kim Latcham, 29, suffered fatal injuries in the collision, which took place on Saturday, July 29 on Whitworth Lane. A second female passenger suffered serious leg injuries and remains in a stable condition in hospital. Brogan and Kim's families released emotional tributes this afternoon. In a statement, Brogan's mother said: 'On early morning Saturday July 29 my beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle and best friend to many, Brogan Latcham, tragically passed away while doing a favour. 'Brogan – most knew him as Latchy – was loved by everyone he met, the life and soul of the party, and yet still had a caring, nurturing side. The crash took place on the Whirtworth Lane in Spennymoor, Durham (Picture: Google Maps) 'He never said no if anyone needed his help, and that's why he did the lift even though he'd already had gone to bed himself, and will be a sad loss to millions. 'He was the most loving and caring person anyone could meet. Nobody could compare to him, and he will leave a huge gap in the world. 'He'll definitely be the brightest star in the sky now, and will be with his great grandparents, grandad and identical twin brother and I look forward to be with him again someday. 'He'll never ever be forgotten.' The family of Kim said in their tribute: 'We are heartbroken to announce the death of Kim Latcham, who was tragically involved in a road traffic collision on Whitworth Lane on Saturday July 29.
