Thieves have stolen $3,000 (£2,400) of jewellery from a 93-year-old woman after convincing her to hand the valuables over so they can “test it”.
Police have released pictures of the two suspects behind the alleged plot against the pensioner who lives in the Cypress Hills neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York City. “The individuals asked the victim to hand over $3,000 dollars worth of jewellery to test it and walked away with the jewellery,” according to officials.
The two suspects then fled on foot but pictures of them were picked up on nearby CCTV. It is not entirely clear why the lady handed over her jewellery. In the pictures of the suspects, one is wearing a light-blue button-shirt, dark trousers and a grey cap. The other was wearing a striped black, red and white polo shirt, black trousers and a blue and white cap.
Last year a 78-year-old woman was filmed being dragged out of a taxi onto a street by the driver who she said tried to steal her phone and money.
