Vet nurse astounded as ‘dead’ dog suddenly sits up following horrendous car accident

A vet nurse was devastated when her beloved pet spaniel ‘died’ after being hit by a car but was later left staggered when the severely injured pooch suddenly sat up

A vet nurse who had been informed her pet spaniel had died in a horrific car accident couldn’t believe her eyes when the seriously injured pooch suddenly came back to life. While in the middle of a shift at Ryedale Vets in North Yorkshire, Hannah Philipson received a devastating phone call about her 18-month-old dog, Betty.

After running off, poor Betty had been hit by a car and sustained “horrendous” injuries, including a severed jugular, fractured toes, and facial trauma so severe, “you couldn’t even tell it was a dog’s face”. Hannah was told that her pet sadly hadn’t survived her ordeal and that her body was being brought to the practice where she worked. It was then that something incredible happened.

Hannah recalled: “I was told she was being brought in after running off and being hit by a car. My mother-in-law said she was dead, but she suddenly sat up when she arrived here at the practice in the back of a pick-up. I couldn’t believe she was alive, but her jugular was severed and there was blood everywhere as our team carried her in.

“The injuries were so horrendous you couldn’t even tell it was a dog’s face. I’ve never seen anything like it, and I hope I never will again.”
