Influencer Evan Parness captured the heart-stopping moment and posted it to his Instagram account. He said: " When you come face to face with a massive 14ft, 1,000lb Great Hammerhead! "A moment between man & dinosaur. "This took place just feet from the shoreline". Hammerhead shark sightings are quite frequent in Florida. Most species of the predator are considered harmless to humans and will avoid contact with them whenever possible. Evan continued: "Since this was a Great hammerhead, I knew the odds of something bad happening were slim. "But at the end of the day, nature is unpredictable & anything can happen. "Thankfully, this beast just wanted to see what was going on & once he realized it wasn't what he was looking for.. (blacktip sharks) he got on his way". It comes after a Florida beach was named as the shark bite capital of the world , and has already been hit by three brutal attacks this year. New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County, Florida , took the title after a string of terrifying encounters with the dangerous predators in recent years.
