 As Hollywood's elite continue to take strike action, actor Sean Penn joined the cause outside Disney Studios this week. In early July Hollywood officially went on strike after US union the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (Sag-Aftra) voted unanimously to walk out, following weeks of unsuccessful negotiations. Sean, 62, is best known for starring in a wide-range of movies including Mystic River and the biopic, Milk. The two-time Oscar winner, who gave his last Academy Award to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, joined his fellow writers and actors on the picket line with his Into the Wild co-star, Emile Hirsch. The stars circled Disney Studios throughout the day, joined by familiar faces such as 30 Rock's Jack McBrayer, two-time Oscar winner Jane Fonda and Mrs. Davis co-creator Damon Lindelof. Many celebrities have been spotted joining the protest in recent weeks, including Kevin Bacon and Hilary Duff. 'There's going to have to be a reality check with the producers in the sense that, long term, an exploited business is a not productive one for anyone and that this is a quality-of-life and basic decency issue,' he said. 'The idea that anyone would even have to seek to have, let's say the AI ownership of another human being's anything has a certain sickness attached to it.'
