Nearly two-thirds of dog owners worry about how their four-legged friends fare in the heat â but four in ten don’t know how to help them cope with rising temperatures
A quarter of dog owners admit they wouldn’t be able to spot the signs â if their pet was overheating, according to a study.
Some of the top symptoms associated with heatstroke in dogs include “confusion”, and upset tummies â yet these key indicators would only be recognised by 38%, and 31%, of owners, respectively.
And just a fifth (19%), of the 2,000 dog owners would polled, would be able to identify either pale or bright red gums as a sign that their pooch is struggling in the heat.
It also emerged that 63% of dog owners are concerned for their furry friend as temperatures rise â but 41% admit they don’t know how to help their animals cope in the warm weather.
