Think the ‘Lazy girl jobs’ trend is a scandal? Here’s my lazy boy version

Forgive me if I come over all grizzled old pro about this lazygirljobs viral phenomenon. It’s supposed to be a new thing – young women rejecting high-pressure careers for reasonably paid gigs enabling maximum dossing – but hey, you know what, kids? Just because you come up with a phrase, delete the spaces and whack a hashtag in front doesn’t mean its’ original. Young women, and young men, and indeed older women and older men, in fact most people if they think they can get away with it, have been taking the soft option since work was invented.

“Do you want to schlep down to the stream to fetch water,” I can well imagine Neanderthal Mum asking her child in a series of ugga-ugga-ugga grunts,
