JPMorgan ‘handled $1.1m for Jeffrey Epstein after cutting ties’

JPMorgan Chase handled more than $1.1 million of payments from Jeffrey Epstein to girls or women after terminating the disgraced financier as a client, the US Virgin Islands has claimed in a new court filing.

America’s largest bank is facing legal action over its ties to the paedophile, who was a client from 1998 to 2013.

The US Virgin Islands, where Epstein owned a private island, is suing JPMorgan over allegations the bank profited from and helped to facilitate his sex trafficking operation.

Data on transactions from the bank showed it handled payments for Epstein to “many girls or women – many with eastern European surnames – after terminating him as a client”, a lawyer for the Virgin Islands wrote in a letter to the
