David Hunter: Expat who killed terminally ill wife visits her grave

NEWS… BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

A British pensioner who killed his terminally ill wife to end her suffering has visited her grave for the first time following his release from prison.

Retired miner David Hunter was freed from jail in Cyprus on Monday after a court there handed him a two-year sentence for the manslaughter of Janice, his spouse of 52 years.

She died in December 2021 and was buried at a cemetery minutes from the couple’s home in Tremithousa – a small village near the coastal resort town of Paphos.

But Mr Hunter was unable to visit after being taken to hospital immediately after her death following a failed suicide attempt and then spending 19 months in custody awaiting trial.
