Lauren first joined the show earlier this year as part of the soap's extremist grooming storyline, involving Max Turner. Max was groomed and radicalised by a far-right group, who encouraged him to believe their racist views as they targeted the Muslim community in Weatherfield. Lauren's father was a member of the group that groomed Max, with her also caught up in their extremist campaigns due to being manipulated. Lauren's father Reece was recently sent to prison for his crimes, and he learned he faced an 18-year sentence. When Lauren returned to the street, she hoped to reunite with Max only to learn he had a new love interest, Sabrina.
