Pearson plays ChatGBT at its own game

Pearson, the FTSE 100 educational publisher, is fighting back against the potential threat of AI and putting ChatGPT-style tech into its products so that students can use it to summarise book contents and generate practice tests.

Many teachers have expressed fears that generative AI, which creates new human-like content, is being used to plagiarise essays, pass exams and generally upend the current education system.

Pearson’s move to embrace AI using its own textbooks and information before the US goes back to school is an attempt to protect and capitalise on its intellectual property in a rapidly evolving world that is full of pitfalls for the sector.
