Realistically, £150 isn't a bad budget to shop for a premium doorbell that includes a chime. However is it a premium doorbell? Does it have the features to stack it up against the established brands like Ring and Arlo? In a word, yes. The first thing you need to know about the Tapo D230S1 is it's wireless, with a removable battery said to be good for up to 180 days, and a chime that acts as its hub. Wireless doorbells are rapidly becoming the way forward, as fewer homes come with the wiring, so this is a smart move. The doorbell unit itself isn't unattractive, but it's hardly distinctive. A large panel at the bottom acts as your button, and there's a wide-view lens, a sensor, and an LED light. The 5MP camera serves up 2K resolution, which is something of a prerequisite these days, and Tapo claims it has a "head-to-toe view, with an ultra-wide 160-degree diagonal field of view.
