The newly-launched Tapo D230S1 video doorbell has some stiff competition, so can it measure up?
Tapo is a brand I’ve come to know for offering an array of smart tech for affordable prices. Over the years I’ve tested their cameras, smart plugs and sensors, and now they’ve made a video doorbell.
Video doorbells have become the must-have home security accessory for a variety of reasons. Not only can they keep an eye on your home’s frontage while you’re in or out, but you’ll be able to keep track of all deliveries that come and go – whether it’s the postman, or a courier with a big parcel.
Having lived with them for years, I know I couldn’t be without one, and I was keen to see what Tapo’s offering was like, and if it could measure up to some of the more established brands out there.
First off, the Tapo D230S1 is an interesting price. At £149.99 including a chime it costs the same as a Ring Video Doorbell 4 with a chime bundled in, roughly the same as the Google Nest, and it comfortably undercuts the doorbell I believe is the best on the market, the Eufy S330.
