Paul Mullin won’t be leaving the United States until he’s recovered from a punctured lung, and Rob McElhenney will be hosting him until ready to go back to Wrexham
Wrexham striker Paul Mullin will be staying with co-owner Rob McElhenney until he recovers from a punctured lung.
Mullin needed oxygen before walking off the field during Wrexham’s pre-season game against Manchester United on Tuesday after young goalkeeper Nathan Bishop collided with the striker. Bishop was lucky to avoid a red card for his dangerous tackle, but Wrexham did get revenge as they went on to win 3-1.
The rest of the squad has travelled back to Wales as they prepare for their first game in the EFL for 15 years, a home opener against MK Dons on Saturday. Mullin won’t be available for a number of weeks due to his injury, but he won’t be there to support either.
McElhenney has confirmed that Mullin will remain with him in sunny California until he’s fit to return home. In an interview with S4C, McElhenney said: “He’s okay. I just texted with him this morning. He’s in San Diego and he’s going to come up and stay with us for a couple of weeks until he can leave and head back to Wales.”
