Clothes like shirts, trousers and linen garments are prone to creases and wrinkles, especially when they’ve been folded up in a suitcase or bag. Clothes get wrinkled because fabrics are made up of bonded molecules. When the molecules get wet or heated up, the bonds get broken. Then, when they cool down, the bonds form into new shapes which causes wrinkles and creases. The washing machine itself can also cause wrinkles and creases in clothes. In the washing machine, clothes spin and get agitated pushing against the drum to remove as much water as possible. Shadmaan Kader an expert at Pound a metre has shared their top tips on how to avoid ironing clothes when travelling.
