Women’s World Cup LIVE: Morocco make history with first ever win as Group A set to be decided

Morocco registered their first win of the tournament while New Zealand suffered early heartbreak as Norway and Switzerland secured their passes to the round of 16

Day 11 of the Women’s World Cup is underway and Morocco have made history with their first ever win in a World Cup tournament.

Ibtissam Jraidi scored the country’s first ever goal at the tournament with a sixth-minute header as defender Nouhaila Benzina also made history by becoming the first player to wear a hijab at a World Cup.

New Zealand are the first co-hosts to exit the tournament after a 0-0 draw with Switzerland and Norway’s 6-0 thrashing over the Philippines saw them go bottom of the table to qualify under the Swiss.

Yesterday, the FA issued an injury update on Keira Walsh, confirming that the midfielder did not suffer an ACL injury, though further assessment will be necessary to judge if Walsh will return to action later on in the tournament. The Barcelona midfielder will remain in camp to continue rehabilitation but was ruled out of England’s final group stage match against China.
